Developing the Innovators of Tomorrow
As a committed Future City, an important part of the programme was looking at how we can equip the talent of the future with the skills needed to drive our city forward. To implement this, we developed the Future Makers programme, a Coding for Kids initiative that looks to encourage children and young people from a wide range of backgrounds to be the next generation of developers, designers and innovators.
We teamed up with a series of partner organisations across the city to bring the initiative to life and create our event series:
The Future Makers programme was brought to life as a series of events across the city operating across three core formats.
- Three Engagement Events
- Two Summer Camps
- Eight Day Workshops
As part of the project we were committed to making the learning materials Open Source to allow others to develop and run similar courses in their area to ensure that the events are replicable and the skills and knowledge transferable.
